Barton Softball sweeps doubleheader at Pratt #GoBarton

The Barton Community College softball team continued its early season roll of conference opponents by sweeping Pratt Community College on Saturday in Pratt 16-0 and 7-4.

Barton shortened the opener to five innings by plating thirteen runs in the final two frames before scoring runs in six of game two's seven innings to complete the sweep.

Winners of eight straight, Barton improves to 6-0 in league play and 11-6 overall while dropping Pratt to 0-6 in conference and 1-11 on the season. Next up is a Monday non-conference 2:00 p.m. first pitch at Fort Scott Community College before flipping sides of the state with a return to conference action Wednesday in a 2:00 p.m. first pitch at Colby Community College.

Jessica Morgan improved to 4-2 in the circle by scattering two hits in the five innings, striking out six while walking just one.

Kayden Smith connected on her first home run of the season, a three-run shot to cap the Cougars' seven run fourth inning to go 2-4 in the game. Lani Dryden joined Smith as the lone multi-hit opener going 2-4 out of the No. 9 slot.

Jaysa Anderson, who connected for a home run in the opener, collected hits in both games in running her consecutive hit streak to ten.

Sydni Williams pitched the final four innings of game two in picking up her first victory of the year in allowing just two hits, walking two, and striking out three.

Barton scored the opening tally of game two, but Pratt was able to plate three in the first at-bat on four hits. Kaylee Richardson settled in for a scoreless second frame but two walks and a hit chased her from the contest with Williams shutting out the Beavers the rest of the way.

Halie Stoneking and Anderson led the offense with two hits each as Anderson drove in two of Barton's runs.
