Pounding out thirty hits including eight home runs, the Barton Community College softball team rolled Saturday at Cougar Field to a pair of five inning 11-3 and 18-2 victories over Pratt Community College.

The Cougars scored in each of their eight frame at-bats, clinching game one with a five run fifth then putting up thirteen in their last two innings at the plate to complete the sweep.

Barton improves to 5-1 in conference play and 11-5 on the season while Pratt drops to 0-8 in league and 1-9 overall.

Next up is a tough stretch of conference opponents beginning 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Hutchinson as the Blue Dragons will be coming off a Saturday doubleheader split at No. 5 Butler. Barton will then host Colby on Saturday followed by a Wednesday trip to Butler.

Collegiate firsts lined the box scores of both games beginning with game one as Sydni Williams captained the circle scattering three hits and five strikeouts in four innings picking up her first victory.

The Cougars connected on three home runs in the opener, two coming off the bat of Teegan Krol in a five RBI performance and Halie Stoneking driving in two on the first of a pair of home runs on the day.

Barton went to a mixed lineup in game two with five different players powering up fence clearers including Jessica Morgan's fourth frame grand slam for her first collegiate long ball. Williams and Stoneking connected for each's third of the season to trail Krol's team leading five.

Additional long ball highlights included collegiate firsts to join Morgan's full-deck round-tripper, Sammi Baldwin clearing the right field fence following Stoneking's left field shot to begin the second inning and Jaysa Anderson's oppo shot in the fourth.

A pair of Cougars also enjoyed the day with their own collegiate firsts, Anahi Garcia extending the fourth inning with a two-out single for her first hit setting up Anderson's two-run shot, and Savannah Benson making her Cougar debut in the circle picking up the win in striking out three surrendering just a first inning two-out hit in the complete game victory.

Stoneking and Krol each collected four hits on the day with nine players having two or more hits including the 3-for-3 game one performance from Adreanna Lance, breaking out of 0-for-14 slump with a second inning double to later score Barton's lone run of the frame on Kayden Smith's two out single.

Elizabeth Horsch closed out the opening victory, relieving Williams for the fifth inning in striking out two.
