Faylor and McCollough earn All-KJCCC East softball honors #GoBarton

Barton softball 2021 KJCCC All-East Selections

A pair of members from the Barton Community College softball team earned Division I All-Jayhawk East honors as announced by the KJCCC Office.

Freshman catcher Madison Faylor was selected onto the first team with Brooke McCollough earning a second-team nod at first base.

The duo helped Barton to a runner-up finish in the Region VI Division I Championships, completing the 2021 campaign at 21-27 including winners in four of their final five contests.

A freshman from Elk City, Oklahoma, Faylor was the offensive catalyst for the Cougars leading the squad in 8 of 13 offensive categories. Faylor paced the Barton bats on a team leading .382 batting average and .694 slugging percentage.  Accumulating 55 total hits, Faylor led the team with fifteen doubles, had the second most triples with three, and tied for the lead with 8 home runs in driving home a squad leading 40 runs. 

Having 17 multi-hit games over the course of the season including four games with a trio of connections, none came larger than the Cougars' run in the Region VI Playoffs blasting three round trippers with nine RBIs in a pair of elimination games keeping Barton advancing in the bracket.

Defensively Faylor was also solid with a .988 fielding percentage, committing just two errors on 161 total chances.

Brooke McCollough – Second Team, First Baseman
A mainstay at the first base bag in her time as a Cougar, McCollough started in all 48 games this season.  The Chandler, Oklahoma, native ranked among the Cougars' top-five in 10 of the 13 offensive categories including fourth with a .324 batting average, third with 11 doubles, 6 home runs and 35 RBIs, and second with 34 runs scored, and third with 17 walks. The veteran closed out her final season with 13 multi-hit games including a mid-season 14-game hitting streak for her career longest.

McCollough completed her Barton career with a .326 batting average, recording 26 multi-hit performances, 16 round trippers, 24 doubles and drew 48 walks.

Defensively McCollough was equally solid at the bag in committing just four miscues in 160 total chances with 146 putouts including three double-plays.
