Barton Softball pounds out thirty hits in sweep at Pratt #GoBarton

Barton Softball results at Pratt Community College

The Barton Community College softball team pounded out thirty hits in sweeping Pratt Community College 10-4 and 17-6 in five innings Thursday in Pratt.

Barton's fourth straight win improves the Cougars to 11-13 in conference play and 17-23 overall with Pratt sliding to 1-23 in league and 7-40 overall.

The Cougars close out the regular season on Saturday in a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader at Independence Community College.

Madison Faylor and Adreanna Lance led the Cougars with five RBI each as Faylor led the hit parade with five. Faylor drove in two insurance runs in game one before belting her 5th home run of the year plating three more in game two's third inning. Lance was one of three Cougars with four hits in the twinbill, driving in all five of her runs in game two including a first inning grand slam on her 5th fence clearer of the season highlighting Barton's eight-run frame.

Ashlee Lucero picked up the game one win on seven strikeouts and one walk in scattering seven hits. Kayla Beers was game two victor in spinning six punch-outs, also scattering seven hits and surrendering just one walk.

Game One Recap
Pratt took the early lead as a two-out error plated a one-out double.

The Cougars responded with two in the second inning getting RBI singles by Kaylee Milligan and Kennedee Lara.

A leadoff single and walk began Pratt's home half of the frame with a one-out double and sacrifice fly putting the Beavers back up at 3-2.

Teegan Krol's team leading eighth big fly of the year drove in Brooke McCollough's leadoff hit by pitch put Barton in front the rest of the way.

Emma Morris drove in two with Makayla Chavez' groundout increasing the lead to four in the top of the fifth with Pratt getting one back in the home half on a two out single following two Cougar errors in the frame.

The margin grew to its final gap of six in the ensuing top of the sixth. Faylor driving in two on her second double of the game and Morris following with her second double of the game in joining Faylor with three hits and team leading three RBI.

Game Two Recap
The teams combined for thirteen first inning runs, Barton putting eight on the board with Pratt firing back with five in the home half then added another solo run in the second.

The Cougars drew four walks in the first but had five hits, Lance's grand slam to put the first four runs on the board followed later by a Milligan RBI ground out, Lexi Dryden's RBI single, and Chavez's two-out RBI triple.

With Pratt committing two errors in helping Barton's big run production, the Cougars returned the favor in the home half with three miscues as the Beavers connected on five hits to cut the deficit to three.

Barton's fourth error helped set up another run in the second with an RBI ground out bringing Pratt to within 8-6.

Dryden and Lara set the table to lead off the third on a walk and single respectively as McCollough and Krol drove them home on singles before trotting home on Faylor's 3-run dinger.

Following Beers striking out two Beavers in the home half, Barton went back to work in the fourth taking advantage of two hit batsman and an error to plate two before Lance drove in her final fifth RBI of the game on a double.

The Cougars tacked on a final run in the fifth as Morris' leadoff double would score on Dryden's second hit of the contest.
