Barton softball pounds out sixth straight victory #GoBarton

Barton softball's Kayli Dryden with a first inning hit versus NW KS Tech

The Barton Community College softball team pounded out twenty-seven hits in Saturday's ten innings for run shortened 13-2 and 16-0 victories over Northwest Kansas Technical College.

The third straight doubleheader sweep at Cougar Field improves the Barton to 7-9 in conference play and 11-19 on the season while dropping NW Tech to 1-13 in league and 2-30 overall.

Barton will hit the road for its next contest coming a 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Dodge City Community College before welcoming Hutchinson Community College to Cougar Field on Saturday.

Kayli Dryden collected five hits in her seven at-bats, belting two home runs and double for a 5 RBI day out of the leadoff position.

Halie Stoneking led the RBI production, driving in five of her six runs in game two including a grand slam highlighting the Cougars' nine run first at-bat.

Adreanna Lance quickly pushed the margin to ten in the home half of the nightcap's second frame, fighting off an 0-2 pitch before depositing the yellow sphere beyond the centerfield fence. Two outs later, K. Dryden delivered her second of the afternoon capping the four-run inning.

Ashlee Lucero earned the win in game one, scattering seven hits in the five innings while striking out six.

Kayla Beers extended her scoreless inning streak to eleven, striking out six and surrending no walk and just four hits to shutout her second straight opponent.

Barton scored in each of its four frames of at-bats, the first coming on the aide of a Maverick error in the first inning before six more hit the scoreboard highlighted by Lexi Dryden's RBI double and Teegan Krol's two RBI single.

K. Dryden's first home run plated a solo run in the third with the Cougars loading the bases to begin the fourth before a Stoneking fielder's choice followed by Kaylee Milligan's hit driving in another as the final fourth run of the inning scoring on an error.

Northwest Tech plated their two runs across in the fourth as Sarah Hembree's leadoff single trotted home on Daelynn Hilton's home run to left field.

With Beers sending the Mavericks down in order on a pair of groundouts and a strikeout, the first of two Maverick errors in the home half helped provide all the runs Barton would need.

Dryden and Kennedee Lara led off the inning with singles, Dryden scoring on the first error with Lara crossing the plate on the second. Lance and Madison Faylor, who each went 4-of-5 on the day, pounded out singles in joning Krol's reach on error, loading up and setting the stage for Stoneking's granny coming on a 1-2 pitch.

The Cougars rallied for two more in the frame coming with two outs as K. Dryden's double scored on Lara's triple who then trotted home on Brooke McCollough's right field two-bagger completing the nine run opener.

Following Lance's leadoff dinger to begin the second, Faylor connected on her second double of the day to later score on Stoneking's reach on error before K. Dryden's second home run pushed the lead to 13-0.

Mia Mills' leadoff single followed by a Krol walk and Fagan one-out single set up two more runs to cross in the third on the Mavericks' fourth error of the nightcap, with Saige Evans credited for her first RBI of the year on a groundout scoring Milligan's fourth inning leadoff triple.
