Offensive firepower carries Cougar Softball to sweep over Pratt #GoBarton

The Barton Community College softball team pounded out 26 hits and launched six homeruns in its' doubleheader sweep over Pratt Community College Wednesday afternoon 15-4 and 13-4.

The Cougars improve to 3-9 in conference play and 7-19 on the season while the Beavers continue to search for its' first conference win at 0-8 and 4-25 overall.

Barton's next games are Thursday in a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader hosting Independence Community College at Cougar Field.

Teegan Krol led the hit parade tallying four hits including six runs batted in on a pair of round trippers. Ashlee Lucero and Kayla Beers picked up the wins in the center circle combining for 15 of the 16 strikeouts.

Game One – Barton 15, Pratt 4
The Cougar bats gave Lucero the only runs needed putting a first inning three spot on the board on back-to-back RBI doubles by  Brooke McCollough and Krol before a Beaver error allowed Krol to come home.

The big blows in the opener came in the second and third innings as Barton pieced together a five and six spot on eight hits fueled on four round trippers off the bats of Halie Stoneking, Kaylee Milligan and two Krol missiles.

Lucero's lone setback came in the top of the third as a Alyssa Reyes grand slam broke up the shutout. The freshman notched her third win of the season going the distance allowing four runs on five hits, walking one and striking out nine Beavers.

Game Two – Barton 13, Pratt 4
The bats remained contagious for the Cougars in the backend of the doubleheader matching game ones hit parade tallying 13 knocks.

Kennedee Lara led the RBI production driving in four, joining teammates Adreanna Lance, Madison Faylor, Stoneking and Millligan with two hit performances each.

Found trailing 1-0 after a half inning of play, Barton answered back on McCollough's first blast of the season putting the Cougars in the driver's seat for good at 2-1.

Barton broke the contest open with a four-run frame backed by a seven-run inning behind 10 hits and taking advantage of two Beaver errors.

Beers kept Pratt in checked throughout the contest from the center circle, improving to 3-5 on the year allowing four runs, four earned on six hits, walking one and striking out six. Elizabeth Horsch worked an inning in relief allowing no hits, walking a pair and striking out one.
