Frakes and Michaelis earn All-Conference honors #GoBarton

Barton Softball's Kat Frakes and Morgan Michaelis earn KJCCC post season awards.

Kat Frakes and Morgan Michaelis of the Barton Community College softball team earned Division I All-KJCCC awards announced at the conclusion of the 2018 season.

One of two returning sophomores, Frakes was selected for the second team after leading the Cougars with a program fifth best single season effort of a .439 average in accumulating 95 total bases on 61 hits. The Topeka native also led the team with twenty doubles to additionally stamp her name on the 5th spot on the program single season chart.

Michaelis transferred to Barton from Northern Oklahoma College, earning honorable mention selection after leading the Cougars in six offensive categories including slugging percentage (.810), on-base percentage (.550) while second to Frakes with a .419 batting average. The Lyons, Kansas, native drove in 46 runs on the season in part to a program 11th best single season eleven home runs while also finishing her one-year Cougar career with a program second best single season 28.

The selections closed out Head Coach Tyler Gunelson's first season at the helm, inheriting the squad in early Fall to guide the Cougars to a fourth place 14-14 conference mark and 18-25 record overall.
