The Barton Community College softball team concluded its regular season Tuesday with a pair of losses to Garden City Community College 10-2 and 8-4. In the opener, Garden City's ten runs on the scoreboard overshadowed the Cougars' fourteen hits and eleven stranded runners as missed opportunities and seven errors compounded in the loss. Outhitting the Cougars 12-6 in the back end of the cool and damp Cougar Field twin bill, the Busters scored six runs in the final two innings to win the season series 3-1.

The results left the teams in the same spot in the Jayhawk standings as Barton ends the conference season in fourth place at 14-14 and 17-23 overall while Garden City's fifth place slot improved to 12-16 and 24-26.

Region VI Tournament play begins on Friday at Dodge City's Legends Park with both the Cougars and Broncbusters matched up again in the 3:00 p.m. opening round game. Saturday's action will have the victor facing the winner of the Butler-Pratt game with the loser of both contests set to begin the day's action at 9:00 a.m.

Andreana Reynolds led Barton's twenty hits on Tuesday with five as the sophomore from Oklahoma batted .625 with two doubles. Hoyt freshman Maggie Schuetz also had a solid day at the dish batting .571 on 4-of-7 trips to the plate.

Playing without the services of game one hurler and utility player Emma Horsch, Allison Panning and Kat Frakes took the losses in the center circle dropping to 9-9 and 0-3 respectively.
