Everill joins Posegate for second straight Barton Softball conference honor

Kylie Everill added her name alongside three other members of the Barton Community College softball team earning conference recognition recently being named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) Division I Co-Softball Player of the Week.  Hitting two home runs and driving in four runs last week, Everill helped lead the Lady Cougars to a doubleheader split versus Pratt Community College.  Batting .600 (3-of-5) in the twin bill held at the Great Bend Softball Complex, Everill had a 1.800 slugging percentage and .667 on-base percentage as the Utah redshirt freshman hit her twelfth and Region VI fourth best thirteenth homerun of the season.

Everill joins Erica Harper, Bailey Hensley, and Holly Posegate who have won the conference award this season as the Lady Cougars have done so seven times.  The award also marks the second straight week a Barton player got the nod as Posegate won the week eleven pitching award shutting down Garden City Community College to only four hits while also going 2-for-3 at the plate lifting the Lady Cougars to a key doubleheader split with the Broncbusters.

The 32-18 Lady Cougars are seeking the program's third straight appearance to the final four of Region VI.  Standing in the way is 23-21 Dodge City Community College as the two teams square off at 2:00 p.m. at Cougar Field in the rubber match of the first round best-of-three series.   The Conquistadors took the opener 7-6 on while the Lady Cougars won the nightcap 9-8.  The winner of the series will advance to Saturday's 2:00 p.m. game against host and Jayhawk West Champion Butler Community College.
