Lady Cougar softball wraps up road trip with sweep in Oklahoma

The Barton Community College softball team concluded its three-day six-game road trip with a doubleheader sweep Monday in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, over the junior varsity squad of Oklahoma Wesleyan University.  The Lady Cougars pounded out thirteen hits in each game scoring in all but two of the first game's innings to win 8-1 then erupted for ten runs in the final three innings to win 10-3 in the nightcap.  The pair of victories improve the Lady Cougars to 23-12 on the season heading into Wednesday's conference doubleheader at Colby Community College.   With both teams sitting fourth in the Jayhawk West race at 5-7, the 2:00 p.m. twin bill proves pivotal in reaching the top half of the standings as the teams split their earlier doubleheader at Cougar Field.

Erica Harper led the 26-13 hitting advantage by the Lady Cougars going 7-for-9 and driving in three runs.  Brianna Ward was also solid in front of Harper in the lineup making the most of her three hits driving home four runs including her eighth homerun of the season scoring Barton's first run in game one.  Following Harper in the lineup Kylie Everill lined two doubles in game two driving in three runs to finish the day 3-for-5.  McKenna Mauler anchored the bottom of the lineup batting .500 going 4-for-8 including belting her second homerun of the season capping a five-run Barton fifth inning in game two.

Taylor Bugner improved to 10-4 on the season striking out ten batters and scattering six hits in game one while Holly Posegate improved to 10-6 on the season with her six strikeout seven hit performance in game two.
