Bollig blasts three home runs as Barton softball gets doubleheader split at Garden City

It wasn't the end result the Barton Community College softball team was seeking out of Wednesday's trip to Garden City as the Lady Cougars split a pair of conference games with Garden City Community College.  The Lady Cougars took control early in game one and put the hammer down in a 12-1 five inning shortened contest only to have Garden City return the favor in a 15-7 six inning game.   Candace Bollig was the big offensive news as the Ellis, Kansas, freshman blasted three homeruns and drove in seven runs in the twinbill while sophomore Emilia Davies went 5-7 with a double and triple.  The split kept Barton behind the Broncbusters in the conference standings as Barton moves to 3-7 conference and 18-12 overall while Garden City stands at 7-7 in conference and 17-20 overall.  Barton will next head to Colby, Kansas, to play five games in the Colby Invitational taking place on Saturday and Sunday.
