Barton's Ashlyn Osborne - Week 3 KJCCC / Verizon Wireless Softball player of the week

Barton Community College softball player Ashlyn Osborne has been named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) Verizon Wireless Softball Player of the Week.  Osborne began the week in the midst of a consecutive streak of reaching base ten straight times while capping off the week by smacking a double to left field.  The consecutive streak is the best for a Lady Cougar dating back to at least the 2002 season and has helped Barton win six straight games for the first time since the 2008 season.  For the week the sophomore from Killeen, Texas, batted .611 going 11-for-18 including six doubles, ten runs batted in, five walks, and stole one base.  Osborne also picked up three wins during the week from the center circle to improve to 3-1 on the season.  After beginning the season 0-for-2, Osborne is 15-for-22 for a .682 batting average.

Weather permitting Barton will be back on the diamond Thursday in Iola, Kansas, as the Lady Cougars take on Allen County Community College in a 2:00 p.m. doubleheader.  Barton's next home game is scheduled for Wednesday, March 5, against the junior varsity squad of Bethany College.  First pitch for the doubleheader is 2:00 p.m. at Cougar Field.
