Barton Softball wins fourth straight, sweep Neosho 8-0 and 11-4

The Barton Community College softball team picked up a pair of decisive wins Thursday at Chanute, Kansas, defeating the host Neosho County Community College 8-0 and 11-4.  Barton improves to 4-2 on the season while dropping Neosho to 2-5.  Barton will return to Cougar Field on Saturday as the Cougars will host Hutchinson Community College for a pair of 7-inning games set for 12:00 p.m. 

Ashlyn Osborne's streak of reaching base ten straight times came to end in her first at-bat as she ground out to second base in the second inning.  The sophomore from Killeen, Texas, went 5-for-8 on the day with five RBIs.  After beginning the season 0-for-2, Osborne is 14-for-17 for an .824 batting average.  

Fellow sophomore Emilia Davies also had a big day going 5-for-9 with two doubles and two RBI.  Leadoff batter Bailey Hensley made the most of her one hit on the day with a two-out bases clearing double giving Barton a 3-0 lead in game one.  Candace Bollig also made the best of her one hit by lacing a full-count two-out pitch over the right field fence to give Barton a 5-0 lead in the second game.

Jaelyn Monhollon got the win in game one scattering five hits and striking out three to improve to 2-1 on the season.  Osborne, who played left field in game one, also improved to 2-1 on the season giving up four runs on 7 hits while striking out four.
