Two-out rallies fall short in loss to Pratt

As in game one, the Cougars jumped out to an early 2-0 lead getting two-out RBI singles from Rohrbouck and Emilia Davies.

Pratt answered the Cougars getting three runs in the second and five in the third as again the Barton defense committed three errors while the Beaver offense pounded out seven hits.

Haney's fielder's choice pushed across the first of three runs with Rohrbouck following with a two RBI triple to right center as Barton battled back in the home half of the fourth to cut the deficit to 8-5.

With Pratt increasing the lead out to 10-5, Barton scored two in the sixth as Davies delivered a two-out single up the middle to score Caitlyn Larson and Haney as the Cougars were within striking distance headed to the seventh trailing 10-7.

Getting a leadoff single from Rachel Shoonmaker followed by a sacrifice by Stephanie Seewer, the top of the lineup delivered the Pratt knock out punches as back-to-back singles from leadoff Kelsie Lundgren and Annette Thomas-Daw gave Pratt a 12-5 lead. Cleanup batter Samantha Garrison drove the final nail in the coffin with a left field line drive just carrying over the fence to give Pratt a 14-7 lead.

The Cougars wouldn't go away quietly in the bottom of the inning as the Cougars loaded the bases behind singles from Katelyn Brockman and Hudson followed by Larson reaching on a fielding error. Haney then delivered a single to right field scoring Brockman and Hudson. After a Rohrbouck fielder's choice scored Larson and a Grizzard walk, Pratt pitcher Elizabeth Ortega was able to induce a Davies ground out to end the game.
