Barton inks two more softball players from Texas
The Barton County Community College softball team added two more players from south Texas recently, signing Georgette Garza and Jennifer Jackson. Both players come to Barton from Richard King High School in Corpus Christi. The area has been a hotbed this year for Barton as the Cougars also signed the top player in the region in Camille Cruz.



Garza was a shortstop for King High, hitting .451 this past season with 4 homers and 27 RBI. Garza also stole 20 bases in 23 attempts and had a .970 fielding percentage from her shortstop position. For her efforts, she was named All South Texas as well as All Metro and All District. Garza was also a letter winner in basketball at Richard King. She was a 4-year starter at King High School. Garza played summer softball for the Louisiana Pride, helping her team finished 14th at the National AFA tournament in 2005.

Jackson pitched for King High School, posting a 13-9 record with an impressive 1.16 ERA this past season. Jackson struck out 162 batters her senior season while firing 5 shutouts at her competition. She was a 4-year starter for King. This past season she was an 1st team All-District selection and a 2nd team All South Texas. Her sophomore season, she received All Metro and All District 2nd team honors. Jackson was named team MVP her sophomore and senior seasons. In addition to her softball skills, Jackson earned 3 letters in track and 4 letters in cross country.
