Junction City duo signs with Barton softball
The Barton County Community College softball team picked up a pair of Junction City High School players with the signings of Christine Cervera and Melissa Boller. Cervera will be an infielder and pitcher for the Cougars while Boller will play the outfield at Barton. Cervera is the sister of Keri Cervera, a former Barton softball player.



Cervera played several positions at Junction City, playing 1st and 2nd base as well as pitching. Cervera was an All Centennial League selection in 2005. She was a 4-year letterwinner and 3-year starter at Junction City. This summer she is playing for the Shark Attack, where she is hitting .481 through 28 games with 11 RBI. She has on base percentage of .500 with a slugging percentage of .608. Pitching for the Sharks this summer, Cervera is 9-5 with a 1.31 ERA. She was started 14 times, completing 13 of them with 3 shutouts. Cervera has 70 strikeouts to just 22 walks.

Boller was a 3-year starter as well for Junction City, posting All League honors in 2004. This past season she hit .290 this past season and drove in 12 runs. She also stole 13 bases in 15 attempts for the Bluejays. Boller is also playing this summer for the Shark Attack, hitting .255 with 1 homer and 6 RBI. She has an on base percentage of .417.
