Offense stagnet for Cougars in doubleheader losses to Garden City
The Barton County Community College softball team had its offense in high gear for two games but it didn't carry over to Wednesday's doubleheader against Garden City. Barton lost 3-1 and 2-1 to Garden at Cougar Fields to fall to 21-27 for the season. The losses also put the Cougars at 3-5 in Jayhawk West play and 4-6 in Region VI action. The Cougars are at home again today to battle Hutchinson.

Highlights
Barton's lone run in the opening game gave them a 1-0 lead in the 4th. Natosha Stewart scored on a Heather Watson fly ball to give the Cougars the 1-0 lead. But Garden immediately answered back with a 3-run 5th. A pair of errors kept the inning going and the Broncbusters took advantage with 3 unearned runs.

Things were any better offensively in the 2nd game as Barton collected just 4 hits. Once again the Cougars went up 1-0 in the bottom of the 3rd when Ashlee Earley drove in Teal Meyer with a single. This time the lead help up an inning before Garden scored twice in the 6th to tag Stewart with the loss despite good effort on the mound.
