Barton earns split with West-leading Pratt
The Barton County Community College softball team earned a split with the Jayhawk West-leading Pratt. The Cougars won the opener by a 1-0 score in the bottom of the 7th then fell 5-0 in the nightcap. Barton is now 4-2 in the West and 6-16 overall. Pratt is currently 6-2 in the West and 17-16 overall. Hutch is in 2nd place at 7-3 while Dodge City is also 2 games over .500 at 5-3.

Highlights
Karina Ramirez played a large role in the Cougars 1-0 win in the opener. Not only did she locked down the Pratt offense by pitching a complete-game shutout but she also drove in the game's only run in the bottom of the 7th when Ramirez singled in Megan Suiter for the game-winner with 2 outs in the inning. For Suiter there was a bit of hometown redemption in the run for the Pratt High School graduate. On the mound Ramirez gave up just 2 hits the entire game.

A pair of unearned runs to start the 2nd game put the Cougars in a hole 2-0 before they came to bat. Barton spent the rest of the game trying to catch-up to no avail.
