Barton drops pair to No. 24 Dodge City
The Barton County Community College softball team dropped a pair of games to Jayhawk West leading Dodge City Tuesday afternoon at Cougar Fields. The Cougars lost the opener 2-0 in extra innings then fell 9-0 in the second contest.

The Cougars are now 15-22 overall and 3-5 in the Jayhawk West. Dodge City, ranked No. 24 in the nation, is now 29-13 overall and 9-1 in the West.

Highlights
The Cougars had their chances in the opener, riding another strong pitching effort from Erin Morin. Morin held Dodge City scoreless for 7 innings, but the Cougars could not muster a run in that time either. In fact, Barton had just one hit in the contest, a Karina Ramirez single.

In the first extra frame - under the international tiebreaker rule where a runner starts on 2nd base - the Conquistadors used an error and a double to put two runs on the board a for the 2-0 win, giving Morin a hard-luck loss.

In the second game, the Cougars again had trouble getting hits off Dodge City, but still found themselves locked in a tight battle late in the contest. The Cougars trailed just 2-0 after 5 innings of work, but West-leading Conquistadors tallied 5 runs in the 6th and 2 more in the 7th for the 9-0 win and the sweep.
