A shorthanded Barton Community College men's cross country team joined nearly two hundred runners Saturday competing in the Fort Hays State University Tiger Open. With a delayed start of thirty minutes due to heavy rains Friday night, two Cougars competed through wet and muddy conditions at the Sand Plum Nature Trail in Victoria in the 8k Black Race division.

Freshman Tallan James placed 96th overall in 28:45.1 while sophomore Javon Patterson clocked a 30:55.8 time in placing 158th.

The Cougars next competition will come October 30 at the Region VI Championships in Garden City, Kansas.
