Calderon leads Barton men to 11th place finish at Region VI Cross Country Championships

The Barton Community College men's cross country team finished 11th in the Region VI Championships held Saturday at the Westar/Prairie Ridge Park Course in Hutchinson, Kansas.   The Cougars placed two in the top fifty of the 123 man 8k race, compiling 97 points in the sixteen team field.  

Ignacio Calderon led the Cougars in a 28:27.02 time to place 32nd while Samuel Hengeli cracked the top-50 with a 49th place finish in 29:10.31.  Corban Ogle was just outside the top fifty coming in 54th in 29:30.18, eleven spots ahead of Felix Marquez' 30:21.10 65th placing.

Lukas Tucker led the final three Barton entries with a  106th place finish in 32:58.65 while Treavon Ware beat out teammate Javon Patterson for the 111th position crossing in 33:53.26 to Patterson's 34:27.73.

In the breakdown of conference standing, the Cougars finished sixth out of the eight teams.  Calderon placed 14th with Hengeli and Ogle placing 25th and 26th respectively.  Marquez was next at 33rd with Tucker 54th while Ware and Patterson were 58th and 59th.

Barton returns to the competitive trails in two weeks heading to El Dorado, Kansas, on Saturday, November 12, for the NJCAA Division I Championship.
