No. 8 Cougars look for strong showing at J.K. Gold Classic
Just like the women's team, the Barton Community College men's cross country team will compete at their first meet in recent memory as a national ranked team as the Cougars travel to Augusta, Kansas, on Saturday to compete at the 66th Annual J.K. Gold Classic hosted by Wichita State University. With both the men and women entering the first NJCAA Division I poll of the season released recently, the No. 8 ranked Cougars will be competing for the first time in two weeks after placing two runners in the top four at the Kings Sandwich Classic in Iola, Kansas.

Making his cross country debut with a Kings Classic 5k course record, mid-distance standout Sampson Laari most likely will contend for the 6000m course record amongst a talented field of two- and four-year colleges and universities. Devyn Brotherton, who finished fourth at the Kings Classic in his collegiate debut, will also help lead the young Cougars on the hilly Raft Golf Course as the teams take their mark at 8:25 a.m.
