Cougar men battle tough competition at Region VI Championships

The Barton Community College men's cross country team concluded the regular season this past Saturday at the Region VI Championships held at the Westar/Prairie Ridge Park in Hutchinson, Kansas. Competing against six teams within the nation's top twenty-five poll, the Cougars finished twelfth as a team on the 8k course.  Barton will next compete at the NJCAA Division I Cross Country Championships November 9th at the Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge, Iowa.  

As he's done most of the season, freshman Chon Chavez led the Cougars with a 46th place finish at 28:58.00.  Sophomore Tyler Lumpkin placed 57th in 29:22.30 while Genesis Rose came in 79th in a time of 30:46.10.  Competing in only his second meet of the season, Adam Kelsey placed 93rd in 31:59.40.  Zach Wilson clocked in at 98th place in 32:45.20 while Brady Holler rounded out the Cougar squad in 34:47.50 to finish in the 105th spot.
