Dior Lowry enters his first year as an assistant coach for the Cougar track and field program. A former standout for the Cougars, Lowry will mostly work with both men’s and women’s sprinters, hurdlers, and distance runners.

Lowry has been a champion, been part of a championship, or helped coach champions throughout his athletic and professional career.

Lowry helped the Cougars win four Region VI Championships and three NJCAA Championships while earning his degree in Graphic Design.   The 2005 graduate added an individual national championship winning the 60m Hurdles at the 2005 NJCAA Indoor Championship.  In the NJCAA Outdoor Championships, Lowry placed 6th in the 110m Hurdles his freshman year then narrowly missing a championship by finishing 2nd his sophomore season.

Moving on to Saint Augustine University in Raleigh, North Carolina, to earn his Bachelor of Arts degree, Lowry was a four-time All-American and integral part of four national championships.  Adding to his national accomplishments, Lowry won the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Conference 110m Hurdles in 2007 then followed with a 60m Hurdle conference championship in 2008.

A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Lowry spent time as a volunteer high school coach at Cheltenham High School in Wyncote, Pennsylvania.  Most recently was an assistant at Iowa Western Community College where he helped IWCC women’s team earn their first region championship.   Additionally, twenty athletes earned NJCAA All-American honors with thirty-one school records being broken under his guidance at IWCC. 

Receiving his instruction under hurdle technicians Anwar Moore and Bahamian Olympian Sylvanues Hepburn, Lowry has also helped coach two Olympian and world championship competitors.

An accomplished athlete from Martin Luther King High School, Lowry also won the 60m Hurdle Indoor State Championship in 2003.
