Former Cougar Remuro Henry returns to Barton for his first season as assistant coach for the Track and Field Program.

The Miami, Florida, native began his collegiate athletic career as a walk-on for Barton, competing for the Cougars from 2009-2011 running primarily the 100m, 200m, 400m, and both the 100m and 400m relays. Henry’s work ethic and ability resulted in a tremendous amount of improvement while a Cougar recording his personal collegiate best 400m time and leaving his mark as a 5-time All-American including leading the 4x400m squad to the 2009 NJCAA Outdoor Championship.

Henry’s junior college success led to Norman, Oklahoma, in competing for NCAA Division I University of Oklahoma. Helping the squad to the 2010 Big 12 indoor championship, Henry earned eight All-Big 12 honors. Obtaining his degree from OU, Henry went on to compete for the U.S. Virgin Islands setting multiple national records.

Following his athletic career, Henry moved into the coaching ranks as an assistant coach at fellow KJCCC/Region VI member Coffeyville Community College. While at Coffeyville, Henry earned the 2015 USTFCCCA Central Region Outdoor Women’s Assistant Coach honor in coaching many All-Americans including Andre De Grasse.

Moving on to Wayland Baptist University for one season prior to Barton, Henry was recognized with another honor from the USTFCCCA in being named the NAIA South Central Indoor Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year.
