The 4th ranked Barton Community College men's track and field team won three events this past weekend in Garden City to place second in the KJCCC West and fifth in the Region VI Outdoor Championships.

The Cougars had fourteen scoring performance including three individual champions, posted seven personal bests, chalked up three more national qualifiers, and impacted the storied program record book from a pair of performances.

Like the Cougar women, the men earned a pair of individual post-meet awards with Brandon Lloyd earning the Field Athlete of the Meet and Emmanuel Dixon named the Men's Assistant Coach of the Meet. On the women's side, Nia Robinson earned the High Point Athlete of the Meet and Lashanna Graham the Track Athlete of the Meet.

Next up is the season finale May 19-21 as the Cougars head to Hutchinson, Kansas, for the NJCAA Division I Championships.

Lloyd began his three-event meet on Friday with a third place 47.52m (155-11) throw, followed a by a championship 18.15m (50-06.75) shot put throw to jump from 8th to 4th best on the program's all-time list. Fellow national qualifier Giovanni Gutierrez, who did have the program's 4th best throw prior to Lloyd's heave, finished runner-up on a 17.42m (57-02.00) toss. Gutierrez also placed 7th in the discus (46.45m, 152-05), to go along with, a 6th place in the hammer throw at 46.31m (151-11).

The Cougars added a pair of titles on the track, Elijah Mosley playing a part in each. Capturing the 400m in a personal best 46.14, Mosley teamed with 400m runner-up Telron Bradford Jr. (47.31), Andrew Ferguson, and 200m third place finisher Almond Small to win the day's final 4x400m relay at 3:11.21.

Already nationally qualified, Anthony Woods was the lone jumper entered for the Cougars due to standout Shakwon Coke sitting out the meet. Woods planted a personal best 7.75m (25-05.25) long jump to place second before finding his stride late in Saturday's triple jump to take fourth with a 14.82m (48-07.50) distance.

Barton added three new national qualifying performances throughout the weekend to bring their potential entries to twenty-three.

Two of the qualifiers came in the stacked 100m where the top nineteen times in prelims clocked a national ticket time. Missing the finals but within that list was Ali Moore in 12th at 10.41 followed by Marcus Purcell in 13th at 10.47 as both posted personal bests. Small, who was already qualified in the 100m and 200m, finished 9th to just miss the 100m finals by .05 seconds.

Coming within .65 seconds in his 400m hurdle debut just a month ago, Cedric Williams gave Barton their final ticket entry with a fourth place personal best time of 54.77.

Also notable was the 110m hurdle prelim performance from Daylin Williams as the national qualifier clocked a program 8th best time of 13.71.  Sitting out the finals, GiAndre Lee carried the Barton flag to a 7th place finish behind a 14.77 personal best.
