Shakwon Coke added another national title as the Barton Community College men's track and field team concluded day one in third place of the NJCAA Indoor National Championships held at Pittsburg State's Plaster Center.

Barton accumulated 27 points after opening day events, two points from second place Colby and twelve from leader South Plains' thirty-nine.

Coke continued his dominance of junior college jumps, thanks to Covid affected eligibility winning his third straight indoor long jump crown by bettering his program 4th best all-time mark on his third jump of the day in splashing the sand at 7.83m (25-08.25).  Anthony Woods also recorded a program best, hitting a 7.33m (24-00.75) mark on his second trip down the runway to take 6th place overall.

Giovanni Gutierrez didn't quite reach his program 5th best throw from two weeks ago, but still claims a national runner-up finish to his resume on a 17.09m (56-1.00) throw while Brandon Lloyd placed third at 16.79m (55-1.00) earning Barton fourteen points in the event.

Action resumes at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
