Coke and Moore earn Week 20 Barton Sports Weekly Athletic Award Honors #GoBarton

Barton Sports Student Athletes of the Week for Week of 1/25/2022

Barton Men's Track and Field athlete Shakwon Coke and Men's Bowling athlete Bryce Moore have been named the week 20 "Barton Sports Weekly Athletics Award Honors" sponsored by Great Bend's Identifications.

Shakwon Coke the defending NJCAA Indoor long jump champion made his 2022 debut in a big way, soaring to a program fourth best distance of 7.80m (25-07.25) in taking over te new season's top spot in the NJCAA. Marking a pair of 7.47m jumps thoughout his attempts, Coke left it all on the runway in his sixth and final jump to land 7.80m distance to place second overall of the 24 athlete open field to Nike ahtlete Steffin McCarter's 7.83 (25-08.25).

Coke and the Cougars will be back in action Sunday January 30th at 12:00 p.m. competing in the KJCCC/Region VI Invitational held at Pittsburg, KS.

Bryce Moore started his second half of the season with a 6th place finish individually out of 120 participants. The freshman knocked down 1,071 pins inclduing a program second best single game score of 279 helping the Cougar men to a 10th place finish. In Sunday's SWIBC VI Moore led the Cougars once more posting a 20th place finish tallying six of his seven tossed games above the 200-mark as Barton finished a spot better in ninth.

Moore and the Barton bowling team will return to the lanes Saturday and Sunday for the Bronco Bash held at the Pasttime Lanes held in Hastings, NE.
