Barton men earn NJCAA All-America honors #GoBarton

2018 NJCAA Men's Outdoor Track and Field All-Americans

Capturing the program's 55th and the College's 56th national title, the Barton Community College men's track and field team hauled in its fair share of NJCAA All-American honors with eleven performances within the top three finishers at the 2018 NJCAA Outdoor Championship.

The Cougar men had two event national champions, the first coming in the field event as Sanjae Lawrence bettered his previous school best shot put mark with a winning 18.55m (60-10.50) throw.

Four Cougars teamed up for the other event national title, with Christian Lyon, Terence Ware, and Samson Colebrooke passing the baton to the eventual 4x100m anchorman Dartez Hamlin in a shocking come-from-behind victory in a season best 39.78 time.

Lawrence gave chase for a second time in the discus throw in settling for a discus throw runner-up as did fellow sophomore Graham Sokol's hammer throw effort to earn 2nd team All-America status.

Four 3rd place honors also came in the field events with Travis Hugg in the long jump, Enrique Martinez behind Sokol in the hammer, and Kevin Nedrick taking the third spot behind Lawrence in both the discus and shot put.

Sophomore Christian Lyon's 100m third place finish was amongst the three honorable mention honors as freshmen hurdlers Stephon Torrence and Kenroy Williams concluded their inaugural collegiate season with third places in the 110m and 400m respectively.
