The Barton Community College men's track and field team competed this past weekend in Arkansas City at the Cowley College Tiger Invite.  The Cougars won three titles amongst their twenty-five top ten placings while recording five national qualifying performances to go along with multiple personal individual bests.  

Sophomore Ricky Nelson highlighted the performances with another school top ten discus throw leading a 1-2-3 finish for the Cougars.  Nelson won the event on his first throw of the finals with a 53.06m (177-04), just .38m shy of his school third best throw.   Sanjae Lawrence took second at 47.14 (154-08) while Stevon Crooks threw a personal best 46.17m (151-06) in finishing third.  With Crooks' throw, the Cougars now have all three within the nation's top thirteen with Nelson in second, Lawrence in tenth, and Crooks in the thirteenth spot.

Nelson also captured the shot put with a personal best 16.22m (53-02.75) to set a new personal best in posting the nation's seventh best mark.

Jermaine Jones clocked the nation's third fastest 110m hurdle time of 14.33 to win the event as Kevin Turner's 15.60 and Louis Rivers' 15.69 was good for sixth and seventh.

Breaking the eleven second mark in the 100m, Chedlin Sagesse' 10.56 finished third with the nation's eleventh best time. Terence Ware, who placed eighth in the event, led the Cougars in the 200m with a 21.83.  In the 400m, Michale Reyes finished runner-up with 49.38 while Deandre Jobe led Barton in the 800m with a fourth place finish at 2:02.75.

The Cougars grabbed the third and fourth placing in the triple jump with Willie Rodgers leading the way with a 13.79m (45-03.00) leap with Alvin McCray marking a 13.26m (43-06.00). 

The Cougars will next head to Canyon, Texas, competing in the West Texas A&M Classic and Multis held this coming Friday and Saturday.
