Cougars record multiple season bests at Beile Classic

The Barton Community College men's track and field team took a break from competing against NCAA Division I powerhouses in taking part in the Fred Beile Classic on Saturday in Crete, Nebraska.  Hosted by Doane College, Barton recorded multiple personal bests during competition against ten other colleges.

The Cougars had three sprinters in the 60 Meter Dash with two crossing the line in season best times.  Mike Simmons, who did not run in the finals, finished 3rd in the prelims in 6.95 seconds while Jaiden Brown was close behind at 7.00 then went on to finish 4th in the finals at 7.01.  Running the event for the first time this season was Kennedy Mayweather who posted a 7.12 to finishing in 13th place.  Brown also had a strong showing in the 200 Meter Dash finishing 6th in a time of 22.58.

Cougar Soccer standout Ebu Camara, who landed on the 2nd team NJCAA All-American team after finishing his career one goal shy of the top mark, made his track debut in the 400 Meter Dash finishing 7th in 52.46.

Genesis Rose was the lone distance runner competing this weekend, running the 3000 Meter Run for the first time this season to finish 16th in 10:54.21.

Alireza Rafiei led the Cougars off the track and in the field events with a 14.31m heave in the Shot Put to finish in 9th place.  Dylan Moore and Colby Overturf both competed in the Weight Throw but both failed to record a qualifying mark.

Barton will take a rare trip out to Colorado this weekend as the Cougars will compete in the two-day Air Force Open held in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
