6th ranked Barton Men’s Tennis thumps 11th ranked Pratt to open conference play #GoBarton

The 6th ranked Barton Community College men's tennis team dispatched the 11th ranked Beavers of Pratt Community College 7-2 Tuesday at Larned's Doerr Vernon Park.

Barton took two of the three doubles matches before outscoring Pratt 75-30 to win singles action 5-1.

Gustavo Campos was one of three Cougars to have a perfect day, teaming with Eduardo Morais to win the No. 1 doubles 8-5 over the Beavers' Dante Despontin and Maxime Guyson then took care of Despontin by twin 6-1 scores in the top singles matchup.

Samyak Bajracharya and Tsholofelo Tsiang began their undefeated day with an 8-4 victory in the No. 3 tandem slot over Vitor Goncalves and Nikita Dashov. Bajracharya then took care of Vinicius Costa 6-0, 6-2, in the No. 5 singles matchup while Tsiang was a game better in the No. 6 with a 6-0, 6-1, victory over Andile Sibanas.

Both James Kaoma and Barnabas bounced back from their doubles loss with convincing singles victories, Kaoma taking care of David Arrieta on 6-3, 6-2, scores in the No. 2 slot while Barnabas Kalaba defeated Oleksandr Makarov in twin 6-3 set scores in the No. 4 matchup. The duo had previously lost a tough 7-4 tiebreak in the No. 2 tandem to the same pair of Beavers.

Morais also took a tough tiebreak loss in the No. 3 singles, winning the first set on a 7-5 breaker but dropping the next two 6-3 and 10-8 in the tiebreak.

Stepping away from team style competition, the Cougars will join their women teammates for its toughest individual meet of the spring season heading to Plano, Texas, competing in the SW Juco Regional held Friday and Saturday.
