The Barton Community College teams began a tough stretch of ranked oppenents yesterday with split results against New Mexico Military Institute as the No. 13 ranked women's squad won 8-1 over the 21st ranked Lady Broncos while the 11th ranked men's team dropped their first match of the season in a 5-4 loss to the No. 21 ranked Broncos.

Barton's women swept all three of the doubles matches against NMMI before taking all but the No. 1 singles slot improving to 5-2 overall on the season. The Cougar men got off to a good 2-1 start in tandems but the Broncos pulled out three difference making close singles matches in dropping Barton to 6-1 on the year.

Next on the schedule are home conference matches against top ten ranked programs in Cowley College at high noon on Sunday with Seward County Community College on Wednesday beginning at 11:00 a.m.
