The Barton Community College teams hit the road Monday to Hillsboro, returning back to campus with a combined eighteen victories as both the men and women's squads won 9-0 at Tabor College.
Both teams are back in action at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in hosting New Mexico Military Institute. The 13th ranked women will play their matches against the 21st ranked Broncos at the Barton Tennis Courts while simultaneously the 11th ranked Cougar men will be taking on the Bronco men, also ranked 21st.
The women now stand at 4-2 on the season while the men's squad improved to 6-0 in outscoring its opponents 49-5.
The women's doubles rolled through the No. 2 and 3 match-ups as Claudia Sumaia and Gwendolen Sior blanked the Blue Jays' Tessa Isaac and Kayla Roth while the No. 3 tandem of Sara Martin and Gabrielle Herzog just dropped one game in defeating Macey Darrah and Abigail Berggren 8-1. The No. 1 duo and 17th ranked in the country Julia Candiotto and Mariane Lima also won by a large margin in taking care of Naima Mexsen and Olivia Brubacher 8-3
Sumaia, Sior, and Martin made quick work of Isaac, Roth, and Darrah in the 3-5 matches dropping just three points in forty-one points played. 35th ranked Candiotto won in straight 6-3 sets over Mexsen in the No. 1 match while Herzog did the same in the No. 6 slot over Berggren. 21st ranked Lima was pushed to a third set 10-5 victory after taking the first set 6-3 but having to play the tiebreak after dropping the second on the short side of a7-6 second set tiebreak.
The Cougar men were dominant in all their nine matches played, beginning with doubles play in dropping just two of the twenty-six games and a mere four games out of the seventy-six singles action.
The No. 3 tandem of Octavio Carrasco and Tom Letecheur blanked Tabor's Federico Bove and Josh Gaede 8-0 before doing the same in the No. 5 and 6 singles slots with 6-0 straight set victories.
Both the No. 1 and 2 doubles won by 8-1 scores with Guido Luna and Sebastian Pino over Angel Miguel and Gallagher Martin-Chavez in the top spot with the No. 2 duo of Oswaldo Cano and Mariano Cabrera taking care of Billy Wiser and Dhiraj Adikari.
Each of the 1-4 singles slots lost just one game, winning the matches in the combination of 6-0 or 6-1 scores. Luna defeated Miguel in the first slot, Cano over Martin-Chavez in the second, 38th ranked Pino defeating Wiser, and Cabrera over Adikari in the fourth singles slot.
