No. 25 Barton men’s tennis wraps up regular season with loss at No. 7 Cowley

The Barton County Community College men's tennis team wrapped up the regular season Monday in Arkansas City getting blanked by the No. 7 ranked Tigers of Cowley College in Jayhawk Conference play 9-0.

The Tigers rolled through doubles play shutting out the No. 1 tandem of Lucas Castelani and Sam Barker while defeating the No. 2 duo of Luis Soares and Ray Strunk and No. 3 team of Triston Herbst and Cole Hardin by the same identical score.

Singles matches didn't fare much better as the No. 25 ranked Cougars were outscored 72-10 in the six matches.   Strunk came the closest to grabbing a set dropping the No. 4 opening set 6-4 before faltering in the second 6-0.  Castelani dropped 6-1, 6-2 sets in the No. 1 slot while Herbst lost the No. 5 match 6-1, 6-1 to the No. 25 ranked Marcelo Balderrama.  Hardin earned the other singles game before losing 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 6 match.

The Cougars will begin preparation for the Region VI Tournament to be held Saturday and Sunday, April 30 and May 1, in Liberal, Kansas.
