Barton swimming productive against four-year schools at the Drury Invitational; Bentley rewrites pair of program records #GoBarton

Barton Swimming results at Drury Invitational

Competing as the lone two-year program, the Barton Community College swimming teams competed this past weekend at the Drury Invitational in Springfield, Missouri, coming home with a four-place finish on the women's side and a sixth placing by the men.

Ahead for the Cougars is the final fall semester meet running Friday through Sunday at the Eagle Invitational held in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Men's Recap
The Cougar men recorded one top-five finish while placing 12 inside the top-10 over the weekends 20-events.

Javan Titus turned in the highest finish with the fourth quickest 100-yard breaststroke wall touch (59.26) in the 37-participant field with teammate Ethan Baylin collecting the first of his two top-10 finishes in 7th (59.81) and 9th quickest 100-freestyle (46.75).

Joining Baylin with a pair of top-10 finishes was Dominik Strba's 6th place 400 IM (4:12.01) and 7th place 200-buttefly (1:55.76) with Louis Ainley claiming his pair with an 8th place 200 IM (1:56.02) and 200-backstroke (1:56.15).

Long distance specialist Felipe Buccelli concluded the individual top-10 finishes with the 10th top stoppage (10:28.03) in the 1000-freestyle.

All five relay events supplied top-10 results with the highest turned in by the four pack of Baylin, Brenden Swindle, Titus and Ainley in the 200-freestyle with the 6th best time (1:26.44).

Women's Recap
On the women's side the Cougars produced two new program record breakers, four top-five performances and 22 top-10 placings in the two-day event.

Hazel Bentley displayed the lone two program record breakers and individual top-five finishes, earning a bronze medal in the 1000-yard freestyle (11:04.81) and fifth fastest stoppage (4:45.46) in the 400-IM.

Barton's other top-five results came through the team events with fifth place performances in the 200-freestyle and 800-freestyle relays. Claire Holt, Rachel Sims, Caroline Tipton and Bentley strung together a stoppage time (1:43.51) in the 200-freestyle relay with Tipton and Bentley additionally teaming up with Elena Lara and Aleksandra Cicha for a fifth fastest 800-freestyle mark (4:29.94).
