The Barton Community College men's swimming team rode a strong final day at the NJCAA National Swimming & Diving Championships as the Cougars returned home with a third place trophy while rewriting a trio of new program best times in Saturday's final seven events.

Maintaining its' third place standing heading into Saturday's final day of action, Barton recorded 591.5 total points holding off fourth place Iowa Central Community College by 549. Claiming their 48th straight championship host Indian River State College accumulated 1,406 total points with Southwestern Oregon Community College earning the runner-up spot with 772.5.

Johan Cue Carrillo capped his Cougar career turning in the highest individual finish of the night with a fourth place performance in the 200-breaststroke as the sophomore reached at the wall clocking the program's top time in 2:01.89. Carrillo led the Barton team scoring over the week tallying up 63 points over four individual events highlighted by defending his 50-breaststroke National Championship in Wednesday's opener.

Freshman Jethro Irvine pieced together a pair of fifth place finishes in his final two individual events. Scoring a team second best point total of 57 points, Irvine started his final evening producing the schools top time in the 50-butterfly stopping the watch in 22.35. Two events later Irvine manufactured the second fastest mark in the record books with a 45.80 in the 100-freestyle.

The final program record breaker came in the ensuing event with Isaiah Auld shaving five seconds of his prelim 200-backstroke time fighting the waves off in 1:54.28 securing a fifth place podium finish. Auld concluded his final Barton meet producing the third highest output for the week tallying 49 points. 

Barton secured its' top finish of the day in the final event as Irvine, Tyler Woodworth, Caleb Gregory and Justus Hampton posted a third place conclusion to the weekend in the ever so exciting 400-freestyle relay as the four pack turned in a 3:06.14.

Over the four-day meet consisting of 25 total events, the Cougars posted one national individual champion, 26 top eighth finishes, shattered eight school records, 53 new personal best times and 32 new program top-10 times.
