Bio

Mike Brown is in his second season leading the Cougar soccer program after spending the previous four years as an assistant coach at the NCAA, NJCAA, and NPSL levels.

Last season Brown led the Cougars to a 13-2-1 record going 10-2 in region play finishing the season ranked No. 16 in the NSCAA and No. 19 in the NJCAA final polls.  Nine players earned post season honors including two on the NJCAA and NSCAA national award lists.  Lucas Alves became the 15th Cougar to be named to the NJCAA All-American list, being joined by Kota Endo in earning All-American status on the NSCAA awarding list.  The Cougars also obtained four other awards coming from the NSCAA landing two on the first squad of the All-North Region Team and two on the second team.

- USSF National D License 

Prior to Barton, Brown served as a Director of Coaching for Arkansas Rush and the Director of Player Development for the Little Rock Rangers (NPSL).

Before those positions Brown spent the previous two years at NCAA Division I University of Central Arkansas as an Assistant Coach.  At UCA Brown directed multiple operations including academics, equipment, travel, individual training and was involved daily in the recruiting process.

Brown began his collegiate coaching career at Iowa Western Community College in 2012. There he served as the program’s recruiting coordinator during a time in which the program went 42-1-1 and was the 2013 NJCAA National Champions going 25-0. Over Brown’s time at Iowa Western, he coached and recruited 34 student-athletes that went on to play at four-year institutions.      

Brown currently holds a Premier Diploma and Goalkeeping Level 2 Diploma from the NSCAA, in addition to, his USSF D License.

A 2012 graduate from Benedictine College with a Bachelor of Arts in International Business, Brown also received his Master of Science in Sports Administration from Liberty University in 2013.
