Barton Men's Soccer Wk 10 Players of the Week

For the fourth time this season, the 5th ranked Barton Community College men's soccer team swept the Jayhawk Conference Division I Player of the Week awards, with sophomore striker Lucas Constante and goalkeeper Dennis Bottcher rewarded for their week 10 performances.

The duo helped the Cougars to a perfect week, picking up a key 2-1 victory at 10th ranked Cowley College before closing the week helping secure the program's 12th Jayhawk Conference title in a 7-0 route over Garden City Community College.

Securing his second conference honor of the season, Constante accumulated a seven-point week furnishing a trio of goals and dishing out an assist. The sophomore striker, opened his week netting both goals in Barton's 2-1 win at 10th ranked Cowley, in helping the Cougars to their first season sweep over the Tigers.

Constante concluded his week shaking the nets with his conference leading 12th goal while also assisting on one of Barton's other six goals in the conference clinching victory over the Broncbusters.

Grasping his fourth distinction of the year, Bottcher recorded the two victories in net denying six of his seven shots faced to improve to 11-1-3 on the year. The sophomore started his strong week sending back two denials in the 2-1 victory at 10th ranked Cowley.

The sophomore keeper finished his week assisting the Cougars to their fifth shutout of the season making all four saves in his 54-minutes of action in net.

The top seeded Cougars, now 15-1-3 on the season, enter post-season play on Friday hosting a first-round Plains District playoff game at 1:00 p.m. versus sixth seeded Coffeyville Community College (3-7-2, 7-7-4). If the Cougars win, Barton will additionally host a semifinal match on Wednesday, November 1st.
