6th ranked Barton men's soccer captures 12th Jayhawk Conference Crown with 7-0 win over Garden City #GoBarton

Behind a balanced team effort, the 6th ranked Barton Community College men's soccer team captured the program's 12th Jayhawk Conference crown Saturday afternoon at the Cougar Soccer Complex pitching a 7-0 shutout over Garden City Community College.

The victory clinches the outright league title, improving to 8-1-2 in conference and 13-1-3 overall while the Broncbusters fall to 1-7-3 in league and 8-7-5 on the year.

Barton will have a quick turnaround hosting first year program Seward County Community College Monday afternoon to wrap up the regular season with kickoff slated for 1:00 p.m. from the Cougar Soccer Complex before opening postseason play next Saturday with a first-round home game.

Seven different Cougars would find the scoring column with Henrique Cruz's second header of the season fabricating the ultimate game winning goal 4:55 into action coming on the first of two Yusuf Dabo's assists.

Subbing in the second wave near the 30-minute mark of the opening stanza, Wilmont Manneh added to the lead with his third of the season with a near side top shelf strike fashioned off Nicolas Galanis' through ball.

Defensive pressure in the final seconds increased Barton's advantage to 3-0 as a forced turnover by Augusto Militao subsequent one-touch pass manufactured Arthur Prado's second net shaker of the season.

The Cougars' leading goal scorer Lucas Constante stretched his goals streak to three straight games just nine-minutes into second half action going far post off Dabo's cross before sending a through ball seventy-four seconds later to the backside creating Maxence Voinier's fifth net rattler of the season for a 5-0 advantage.

Alexander Escobedo's pin-point pass with 7:52 remaining created his first collegiate assist as Keishun Kanesaka dialed up a first touch strike for his second marker of the year.

Eric Monnier closed out the scoring with 1:05 remaining, booting in his first collegiate goal on the backend of Manneh's sent through cross capping the 7-0 victory.

Dennis Bottcher improved to 11-1-3 in net denying all four shots faced in 54 minutes of action while Ayden Thompson patrolled 18 minutes between the pipes and Victor Chavez managing the final 17 minutes helping Barton to their fifth shutout of the season.
