The 7th ranked Barton Community College men's soccer team scored four unanswered but had to hold off a late rally in surviving 4-3 versus Seward County Community College Saturday afternoon at Liberal's Redskin Field.

Victors of three straight, the Cougars improve to 8-0-2 overall and finish the first swing through the KJCCC with a league best 5-0-1 mark, while the first year Saints have their two-match win streak snapped falling to 4-4-2 on the season and 1-4-1 in conference play.

Barton will open the second round through the Jayhawk on Wednesday afternoon hosting Dodge City Community College in a 1:00 p.m. kickoff at the Cougar Soccer Field.

Falling behind 1-0 eleven minutes into the contest following a Saints penalty kick, Loic Kanku would supply the equalizer with 16:52 remaining in the opening stanza firing a far post strike off Augusto Militao's setup touch pass.

Nine minutes later with 7:26 left, Lucas Constante supplied Barton a 2-1 advantage cleaning up Kanku's header for the first of his three-goal afternoon.

In second half action, a pair of quick strikes from Constante in a span of two-minutes supplied the sophomore's first collegiate hat trick pushing the Cougars' advantage to 4-1 with 35 minutes to play.

A defensive breakdown left the door open for the Saints cutting the deficit in half with 21 minutes remaining before a second penalty shot conversion on the day made it 4-3 leaving the Cougars' hanging on to victory for the final 9:53.
