Barton Men's Soccer Players of the Week

Nicolas Galanis and Dennis Bottcher of the 11th ranked Barton Community College men's soccer team swept the KJCCC Division I Player of the Week honors with a national award tacked on as well.

The duo helped the Cougars to a perfect 3-0 week, a 2-1 road win at Coffeyville followed by a 3-1 comeback victory over 12th ranked Indian Hills and a 1-0 result against Jefferson College.

Collecting his first recognition of the year netting a pair of goals for the week, Galanis started his week breaking a scoreless affair with his first marker of the season in a 2-1 road win at Coffeyville. Tied at 1-apiece against 12th ranked Indian Hills, Galanis delivered the eventual game-winning tally, heading home Henrique Cruz' 50-yard free kick in the 3-1 victory.

The sophomore midfielder continued his momentum Tuesday at Lamar Community College providing his third goal in the last four games and delivered his second game winning goal in that span.

Bottcher grasped his second straight KJCCC Division I Goalkeeper of the Week honor and his first NJCAA Player of the Week distinction in the Cougars 3-0 week. The sophomore opened his week denying two of his three shots faced helping Barton to a 2-1 victory over Coffeyville. In Friday's nationally ranked matchup against 12th ranked Indian Hills, he denied a season high eight shots on nine attempts faced. Finishing the week, Bottcher entered patrolling the pipes for the final 25-minutes to help secure the Cougars 1-0 victory over Jefferson College and the teams second shutout of the season.

Earning a 2-0 road victory at Lamar Community College on Tuesday, Barton will return to conference play Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff against Kansas City Kansas Community College.
