Kimito Fritz and Dennis Bottcher of the 11th ranked Barton Community College men's soccer team has been named the week two KJCCC Division I Player and Goalkeeper of the Week respectively.

The duo helped the Cougars get off to a 1-0-1 start to the season last week, winning their conference opener Wednesday 2-0 at Dodge City Community College before most recently picking up a draw Saturday at 5th ranked Iowa Western Community College.

Fritz contributed in big ways on both sides of the field for the Cougars, helping a stout defensive line allowing just nine shots in pair of games aiding the road shutout before picking an opportune time to register the sophomore's first collegiate goal coming in the 86th minute salvaging the nationally ranked battle to a draw.

Bottcher anchored the defensive effort between the pipes, opening the season posting his sixth career shutout denying both shots faced then following the Reivers' early goal, helped orchestrate a team defensive effort keeping the net clean for the final seventy-five minutes.

The Cougars will face its third straight stiff test of the early season on Wednesday in traveling to Coffeyville Community College for a 6:00 p.m. kick before hosting 1:30 p.m. nationally ranked kick-offs on Friday versus No. 17 Indian Hills Community College followed by a Sunday hosting of No. 18 Jefferson College.
