Barton Soccer lands six on All-KJCCC West Team; Sato and Lucca land First-Team Honors #GoBarton

Barton Men's Soccer 2021 All-KJCCC West post-season selections

The Barton Community College men's soccer team placed six members on the All-KJCCC West Team announced by the conference Friday afternoon.

The six-pack of players helped the Cougars, to a third place finish in the West Division at 5-5-0 and season mark of 8-8-0.

Leading the All-KJCCC West selections was sophomore Manaka Sato and freshman Victor Lucca who were tabbed to the first team. Barton saw three picked to the second team in Ivan Zuniga, Hidetaka Nakao and Ricardo Sepulveda while Renato Tapia rounded out the award winners as he was named honorable mention.

Manaka Sato – All-Conference First Team
Sato a crucial returner off last season's Region VI/Plains District Championship team, notched his second straight first team selection. The sophomore maintained the midfield on both sides of the pitch producing one net shaker on the offensive end and helping post five clean sheets on the defensive end. 

Victor Lucca – All-Conference First Team
Lucco fulfilled big shoes on the offensive side leading the Cougars in almost every offensive category while recording six markers to go along with five assists for an accumulating 17-point total. The freshman forward was named KJCCC Player of the week once following a three goal and three assist weekly performance.

Ivan Zuniga – All-Conference Second Team
Zuniga garnered his second All-KJCCC selection with a second-team nod after appearing in 11 contests for Barton. The workhorse in the midfield produced a pair of net rattlers and distributed a trio of assists while being a key force on the defensive end performing in three Cougar shutouts.

Hidetaka Nakao – All-Conference Second Team
Nako's breakout defensive season landed him All-KJCCC second team honors for the first time. Helping back a stout defensive line that produced five shutout victories, the sophomore's play also carried over on the offensive side tallying a goal and dishing out two assists in his 14 appeared matches.

Ricardo Sepulveda – All-Conference Second Team
Sepulveda earned his second All-KJCCC honor after appearing in 15 of the 16 games. A standout defender over the past three years for the Cougars, his efforts once again helped the team account for five shutouts. The sophomore on the field produced his strongest offensive season adding three goals including a pair in a 2-1 road victory over Garden City Community College helping him earn the week six KJCCC player of the week honors.

Renato Tapia – All-Conference Honorable Mention
Tapia rounded out the Cougars All-KJCCC selections with an honorable mention nod. Starting in all 14 appeared matches, the freshman contributed on the offensive end lighting the lamp three different times and producing an assist in his freshman campaign.
