Barton Soccer snaps 2-game skid with 2-0 victory over Garden City #GoBarton

Cesar Morales watches his shot into goal vs Garden City

The Barton Community College men's soccer team rattled the nets in each half Wednesday afternoon earning a 2-0 shutout victory over Garden City Community at the Cougar Soccer Complex.

Snapping a two-match skid, the Cougars improve to 5-4-0 in KJCCC west play and 8-6-0 on the season while the Broncbusters fall to 2-6-1 in league play and 8-7-1 overall.

Heading into the final weekend of the regular season, Barton will head out on the road Saturday afternoon for a 3:00 p.m. first kick needing to knockoff unbeaten 3rd ranked Cowley College while also needing a Broncbuster victory over Dodge City Community College in order to host a 1st round Region VI home playoff game.

Maintaining possession for the majority of the opening half, the Cougar offense broke through in the 18th minute as a Garden City handball miscue inside the 18' setup Ricardo Sepulveda's third net shaker of the year as the sophomore blasted the penalty kick past Broncbuster keeper Levi Flores.

Holding a 12-2 shot advantage through the first half, the Barton attack remained hungry outshooting Garden City 9-2 over the final forty-five minutes. The Cougars got some insurance on the eighth shot attempt of the period as Cedric Morales teamed up with Victor Lucca on a give-n-go with Moralas shaking the nets far post for his second goal of the season on Lucca's fifth setup.

The Barton defensively line kept the Broncbusters at bay allowing just one shot on frame as net protector Felipe Ramos notched his first collegiate shutout and victory.
