Barton Soccer falls to #6 Cowley #GoBarton

Barton Men's Soccer player Hidetaka Nakao goes up for header against Cowley on 9/29/21

The Barton Community College men's soccer team fell 4-1 to 6th ranked Cowley College Wednesday afternoon at the Cougar Soccer Complex.

The loss drops the Cougars to 4-3-0 in the KJCCC and 7-5-0 on the season while the victory keeps the Tigers perfect season alive at 5-0-0 in conference play and 9-0-0 overall. Barton will have a 15-day layoff before returning to the pitch on October 16th as they travel to Dodge City Community College for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.

Cowley put two on the board in the opening 15-minutes of play, putting Barton in a 2-0 halftime deficit.

The Tigers would stretch the advantage to 3-nill in the opening two-minutes of the second half.

Barton gained some momentum just 9:59 later as Tomas Quintana went unmarked behind the Tigers defense heading home his first collegiate net shaker coming off Francesco Esteban's corner cross trimming the deficit to 3-1.

Barton's hopes of a late comeback diminished 17-minutes later as a second yellow card resulted in playing a man down in the final 16-minutes, as the Tigers would tack on the final tally in the 89th minute with a backdoor header.
