Barton soccer picks up big road win knocking off Johnson County #GoBarton

Barton Men's Soccer result at Johnson County

Coming off a disappointing home loss last time on the pitch, the Barton Community College men's soccer team returned the feeling on Saturday in Overland Park knocking off national receiving votes Johnson County Community College 3-2.

The much needed victory to begin the Cougars' three game road stretch of the schedule improves Barton to 2-2 in conference and 5-4 overall while Johnson County slips to 0-2 in league and 4-2 on the season.

Barton will take to the road again on Wednesday heading to western Kansas for a 6:00 p.m. kick at Garden City Community College before traveling back to the northeast on Saturday in a 4:00 p.m. date on the pitch at Kansas City Kansas Community College.

Reigning conference offensive player of the week Victor Lucca put points on the board for the fourth straight game, netting the first goal of the day for his sixth of the season in putting away Ivan Zuniga's second assist of the year.

The lead grew to 2-nill a short time off the clock as Javier Vivanco delivered his first collegiate assist on a through ball to Elijah Williams for an 18-yard net rattler for his second of the season.

Barton enjoyed a 2-1 lead to halftime intermission but Johnson County found the net to tie it up in second half action.

Playing a man down in the final thirty minutes, the defensive line and goalkeeper Dante Curin kept the sheet clean the rest of the way allowing some late Cougar magic.

Taking on the Johnson County keeper and defenders, Miguel Da Silva maintained poise and contact in delivering his first collegiate assist in finding Cedric Morales in traffic to net the game winner in the 86th minute.
