Twenty-six players hit the pitch Wednesday afternoon for the Barton Community College men's soccer team contributing to a 13-1 victory over the reserves of Panhandle State University.
Barton improves to 3-3 on the season, returning to conference play on Saturday in hosting Neosho County Community College for a 3:00 p.m. kick or 30 minutes following the conclusion of the women's 1:00 p.m. start.
The Cougars were explosive in launching sixteen shots each half, putting seven between the pipes in first half with another six coming in the second forty-five minutes.
Victor Lucca led all scoring with a seven point afternoon, tying for eighth best single game performances in Barton history. Lucca assisted on the opening goal 47 seconds into action feeding Ivan Zuniga for his first net shaker of the year. Four minutes later Lucca scored the first of his two goals before assisting Zuniga again nine minutes into the game to put the Cougars up 4-1. Just four minutes into second half play Lucca found the nets again before finishing his performance four minutes later setting up Diego Veit's second goal of the afternoon.
Veit was one of five Cougars to score collegiate firsts, being joined by Hidetaka Nakao, Manaka Sato, Javier Vivanco, and Arthur Seelig-Orth. Nakao also dished out his first assist as did Renato Tapia who also added two goals on the afternoon.
The Aggies launched nine shots throughout the contest, four of the five coming on frame in second half action as Carlos Sanchez turned back all four. Dante Curin played the first half in goal, with the Aggies forcing a midfield turnover before Allan Gamboa found Miguel Espinoza in beating a pair of defenders in striking far post.
