The 16th ranked Barton Community College men's soccer team couldn't find the net Saturday at the Cougar Soccer Complex in their conference opener as the defense from Coffeyville Community College put the clamps on in handing the Cougars a 1-0 defeat.
The third straight loss slips Barton to 2-3 on the year with Coffeyville improving to 2-0 in conference play and 3-0 overall.
The Red Ravens got the lone goal they needed with ten minutes left in first half play as Nicolaus Stoddart sent a through ball to Antonio Podstawski to rattle the nets.
In a physical style of play combining for 46 fouls, Coffeyville outshot the Cougars 13-9 with Barton putting five shots on frame to the Red Ravens' four.
