Barton’s D’Agostini and Privitera earn NJCAA All-America honors; 21st in men’s soccer history.
Felipe D'Agostini and Gabrielle Privitera of the Barton Community College men's soccer team have been chosen to the 2020-21 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I All-America Teams.
Landing two members on the selection list for the sixth time in program history and the second time in the past three seasons, D'Agostini earned 1st team honors with Privitera landing on the 2nd team in becoming the 20th and 21st national selections for Barton in twenty years of competition.
D'Agostini, who was named the KJCCC Division I All-West Player of the Year for the second time, also became a two-time All-America recipient after receiving 3rd team honors last year as a member of the now defunct Cloud County Community College soccer program.
The native of Porto Alegre, Brazil, earned two NJCAA Player of the Week awards to compliment his three KJCCC weekly honors throughout the season. D'Agostini not only led the West Division in goals, assists, and points but also rattled the net a NJCAA 6th most 14 times and delivered a nation 14th best seven assists to compile the 6th most 35 points in Division I soccer. Scoring the winning goal and dishing out the insurance goal in his Cougar debut, D'Agostini went on to produce four multi-goal and one multi-assist performances including five game winners.
Front line attacking mate Privitera earned his second straight first team West selection providing another dynamic season to garner the national distinction. Despite battling through mid-season injuries, the native of Venezuela distributed a conference second best 9 assists. Dealing out an assist in each of the Cougars' opening two games, a healthy Privitera later keyed Barton's offense down the stretch with four goals and five assists in four games to finish the year with a team second best 6 goals and 21 points.
The duo helped lead the Cougars to its fifth NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament appearance, going 1-1 in pool play, losing to eventual national champion Salt Lake Community College to conclude the season at 13-3-1.
Barton found its stride late in the regular season with an eight game unbeaten streak to place 2nd in the West Division at 7-2-1 before winning three playoff games including knocking off 13th ranked Cowley College 4-1 in the Region VI/Plains District Championship for the national tournament berth.
